What Love Is

Ten years ago today, I married my best friend, a woman—a girl—who invited me into her life before either of us really knew what love was.

That girl and our relationship has taught me that love is everything. It promises both joy and sorrow. It requires both passion and patience. It brings out the best and the worst in us. Separate, we are imperfect, but together, we are made whole.

Before we met, I could not have imagined Aleisha coming into my life. Today, I cannot imagine my life without her. She has made possible my one true dream of creating a family. She is a blessing, and I pray that the life we’ve sown continues to take root and, at the same time, branch upward to new heights.

Aleisha, thank you for showing me what love is. I am honored to be your husband. Happy Anniversary!
