Privileged

With the time change, Julia was really tuckered out after gymnastics tonight. So glad we had the foresight to do her bath last night!

After reading Silly Little Goose, I reached over and turned out her light. Then I began saying some prayers, including one of my standard lines about those less fortunate: “Give shelter to those without homes.”

Julia: “God or Jesus could build them some houses.”

Daddy: “You’re right. Jesus was a carpenter after all. Or he could do the work through us.”

J: “Or we could share our house.”

D: “Would you be willing to share your room with someone?”

J: “Yes, but not with any boys.”

Then, suddenly remembering that she had just asked if I—a male—would lie with her for a little bit, she blurts out, “But it’s OK if you stay here.”
